One Step Storage’s Helpful Packing Tips

  • Please do not store Food or Beverage at all. This is strictly against our Terms of Service. Please read our Terms of Service and our Packing Tips.

  • Make sure you do not pack any passports, visas, or other important documents or identification that you may require immediately. There will be a $30-$60/hour retrieval fee if immediate retrieval is required, otherwise the access time is 48 hours to one week.

  • Storage loading and unloading delivery requires a minimum 48 hours notice to schedule. If the minimum notice isn’t given but delivery is still required then there will be a $30/hour fee for retrieving your locker plus the regular delivery fee.

  • Delivery times are not exact. We try to deliver as close to your preferred times but work within a 4 hour window for delivery. Our driver will phone on their way to your address.

  • Ensure there are NO empty gaps in the Mobile Locker. Gaps will allow items to move around in transport or storage which may result in damage. Ensure you have enough old newspapers, blankets or other items to fill in gaps.
  • When packing, distribute the weight as evenly as possible, balancing both sides and back with heavier objects.
  • Place heavy items on the bottom (books and notes) and lighter items on top (clothes).
  • Use small boxes for books and distribute them throughout the Mobile Locker. Paper is heavy and if stacked on one side will unbalance the Mobile Locker.
  • Bags are excellent for linens and clothing and can fit better in the Mobile Lockers.
  • Protect your contents. Use the original boxes to pack computers and other electronics if possible.
  • File cabinets, plastic bins and drawers need to be taped and properly secured.
  • Televisions, microwaves and any unboxed items need to be properly wrapped.
  • When packing items like; mugs, alarm clocks etc. make certain they are packed tightly so they can’t move around. Use clothing, towels, blankets or crumpled newspapers to fill the open spaces.
  • Never store mirrors or large pictures flat, stand them up with pads and blankets to protect them or use a mirror pack.
  • Trunks and luggage should be locked and strapped to prevent the contents from spilling.
  • Don’t pack extremely valuable or fragile items such as jewellery or collectables of intangible values as we can not guarantee they will not be damaged.
  • If YOU pack it well things should be safe. We will store it in a safe secure place but there is always the unforeseen so take those intangible and fragile items back home with you.
